Today folks from all walks of life come together to protect the Earth. Why do we celebrate on April 22? Many consider today to be the anniversary of the modern environmental movement that began in the 1970’s.
The first Earth Day led to the creation of the United States Environmental Protection Agency as well as the Clean Air, Clean Water, and Endangered Species Acts. Thanks to the environmental pioneers who stood up for the health of our planet (and those who stand on it), Earth Day is now recognized by over 192 countries around the world!
Today we would like to invite you to share how you celebrate. Community events, family activities, “green” personal goals, or Garlic Mustard Pulls, We’d like to hear it!
Don’t forget to check out http://www.stewardshipnetworkonline.org to find some activities and Garlic Mustard events near you.
Enjoy the day and keep up the great work!
